Hello
Waukesha Artists!
The Almont Gallery will again be displaying works by Waukesha
Artists to celebrate the Big Read again this year. All works, of any
media that relate to the Great Gatsby theme will be displayed in our
front windows from September 1st to November 14th.
Your name and home gallery will be listed along with your work. We
will be submitting this exhibit to our press contacts. There will be
an antique car show and a movie projected near the gallery in honor
of the Big Read. This event was huge last year.
The general theme of this exhibit can include any number of
the following views: The American Dream, The Jazz Era, Art Nouveau
or Art Deco, The Roaring 20’s, character portraits or
interpretations, or anything you feel is related to the Great
Gatsby. The windows will be in white to accommodate a wide variety
of palettes. I am seeking large vessels to hold some of the props
and flowers we have for the show. Some of the artists of that era
were Gustav Klimpt, Aubrey Beardsley, Alphonse Mucha and Henri de
Toulouse-Lautrec. Due to the deadline of submissions, works do not
need to be done for this exhibit, as long as they relate to any of
the above themes.
I will be hanging the works in the windows on September 30th.
All work should be at the gallery by the 29th or before noon on the 30th.
Please post this in your gallery or forward it on to any
artists you know in Waukesha. Student work is
welcome. All work must be in good taste and appropriate for display
by the general public.
Thanks! Hope to see you
and your work soon!
